Dorm Revamp and Adventures in Camden Market

Today started with a bit of a sleep in after a rough night of drowning out Lloyd's snoring with the music stylings of Taylor Swift on my iPhone.  Our ten am wakeup was followed by a lovely breakfast at the hotel, I managed to steer clear of the dehydrated cherries, sausage and slabs of ham.  But in all seriousness toast and coffee was a pretty good start.

Then it was off to do some major decoration in room B427.  Some quick fixes really livened up the dreary dorm room.  Blue floral duvet cover and matching pillow cases with fluffy navy pillows on top and a soft white blanket at the end of the bed.  A classic "keep calm and chill out" poster which I would love to duplicate for my bebes Lo and Shmede seeing as we can't study together anymore :( Towels, hangers, a desk lamp, laundry bin... the works.  The place really began looking livable and less creepy... My fave purchases of the day were a mini electric kettle, tea and agave (not to mention a union jack mug) so I can have tea in my room without having to venture to the bacteria infested kitchen! Let's just say there won't be many cookies or cupcakes baked this semester, sorry kev.

The most exciting part of this process was not only Lloyd attempting to film the whole thing on his iPhone... but watching him actually make a bed! Something he hasn't done in like 20 years... he was no Helen but acceptable nonetheless.

Next was off to explore the area! A quick 7 minute walk to the bustling camden market.  Imagine the atwater market X18 filled with sick clothes (skull sweaters, military jackets, doc martens, all very london chic/nasty gal esque) and your typical market stuff like sunglasses, watches, souvenirs etc... Daniela Eden Lo Becks Rachel you would die at this place, amazing shopping at really good prices, can't wait to take each one of you there pending your visits.

Food is a different story, as Lloyd put it "this place is quite gastronomic."  Literally food from EVERYWHERE around the world, Thailand, Brazil, China, Mexico, Italy...  All dispersed amongst dozens of cute little food stands and benches that were made out of mopeds!!

Lloyd even bought a new driving hat to walk Lacey in the snow in from this guy.

Under my influence, Lloyd and I opted for a vegetarian lunch.  First we shared a really good veggie burger from HAHA veggie bar.  We had the halumi special (halumi is cheese made out of goat, cow and lamb's milk, quite delish) with avocado and sautéed onions on a whole grain bun.  Then for dessert we shared this AMAZING gooey and warm vegan chocolate chip cookie and espresso.  Cally you would have loved this place! Then as an "aftertaste" as Lloyd called it, we got a piece of battered cod with a smidgen of tartar sauce from a fish and chip stand, but we declined the chips and shared a small piece of fish for a pound.  It was quite delicious, definitely not going to be eating fried food on the regular but it was very very yummy as a treat.

We then returned to the dorm for a little tea party before a nice rest at the hotel.  Tonight we are going to a "Garner recommended restaurant" called Hakkasan in Mayfair.  Promising to be "qual but expeez."    I'll let you know if it's worth visiting tomorrow!

For now I'll leave you with this picture, our thoughts on Lloyd coming to London and Jan missing out

Cheers,
Emily
